Camp Description
Learn valuable skills, stay active, and have a blast in this half-day basketball camp! Shooting, ball-handling, and defense will be among the skills covered in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. . Fun games will be used to teach the skills to keep campers focused throughout the day. This is a great opportunity to stay active, have fun, and work on your game during the fall.

The Coaches
Coach Doug Wiersig:

Doug Wiersig graduated from Mountain View High School with the class of 2005, and went on to earn a BS in Crop Science & Management from UC Davis, graduating in 2010. Further pursuing his academics, Doug earned a MS in Horticulture & Agronomy from UC Davis. Doug works full time as an Account Manager for Cagwin & Dorward Landscape in San Jose.

Doug was involved as a player, coach, and volunteer with the MVHS Boys Basketball team for over 10 years. Doug coached in 2015 as an assistant for the Foothill College women's basketball team and in 2016 he was head coach for the freshman boys basketball program at MVHS. In 2017, Doug was the head coach of the MVHS girls JV basketball team. Doug also has experience coaching at the middle school level - he was an assistant at Blach for 2 seasons and has coached the Foothill NJB All-Net 7th Grade Boys team for the last 2 seasons . In addition, he was a graduate manager for the UC Davis men's basketball team in 2011-12.

2019 is his eighth year as the Camp Director for Spartans Sports Camp.

Coach Sky Russert:

Skyler Russert is a MVHS alum who recently graduated from the University of Oregon where he majored in Sociology, minored in Special Education, and got an associates in Exercise and Movement Science. At Mountain View, Skyler was a four year basketball player and played two years of football. He currently works as an assistant coach for the Los Altos High School basketball program and is an instructional assistant for the Los Altos School District. Skyler dedicates his time to helping others succeed in the way that his former teachers and coaches helped him accomplish his goals.

This will be the first year that Skyler is an assistant director for Spartans Sports Camp.
