Coed Multimedia Journalism Summer Camp

In this hands-on journalism week, students will learn how to find the big story and turn it into a published multimedia article on our Oracle website. Skills covered include interviewing, writing articles, photography, videography, video editing and posting the final product using WordPress. Students will work in reporting teams to investigate topics, find information, collect photos, shoot video and design journalism projects.
During the middle of the day, campers will have an opportunity to play sports, swim, or have fun in our arcade.
This camp will run in one session: July 20 - 24, 2020
from 9:00am-3:00pm daily.
The cost of a 5-day session of this camp is $415. This camp is open to kids entering grades 6
through 9 in August 2020. Each camper will receive a t-shirt, water bottle, and drawstring backpack. Lunch is available for an additional fee (click here for details

Our student counselors from the Oracle Publications are experienced in writing for opinion, features and news, and adept at the technology of media. During the school year, they lead their peers and mentor our introduction to journalism students. In this camp, they will focus not only on journalistic skills, but also on fostering community and instilling a love for telling stories that matter. Amy Beare is a passionate advocate of student journalism. She has taught English at MVHS for 15 years, and advised our student-led scholastic journalism program for 10 years. She holds a Master's Degree in Journalism Education.
